El proyecto nace como intervención en el antiguo Cuartel de la Guardia Civil de Alpuente para reconvertirlo en una residencia de la tercera edad. Se trata de un edificio que ha permanecido en el paisaje hasta formar parte de él. Su contundencia volumétrica, geométrica y constructiva es ya parte del lugar y, por tanto, su huella deberá permanecer en un proyecto que no pretende ser otra cosa que una evolución de un edificio que siempre estuvo allí.
Una residencia de la tercera edad es un edificio que aspira a convertirse en el nuevo hogar de unas personas que llegan a una fase de su vida muy especial, de disfrute de la vida, de diversión en compañía y de tranquilidad. Para ello se toman dos puntos de partida: el patio como elemento articulador y el cuadrado como forma primitiva.
El patio es una estrategia espacial de siempre y para siempre, conocida por todos; los que lo viven, los que lo visitan y en definitiva por todos los que lo disfrutan. Un lugar donde sentirse protegido y reconocido. El patio permite simplificar conexiones, conectar funciones y vincular espacios que puedan sentirse alejados pero siempre conectado visualmente para permitir el máximo control.
Si el patio es una estrategia espacial de tradición popular, el cuadrado es quizá junto con el círculo la primera figura geométrica de nuestra memoria. Es por esto una figura que nos ha acompañado en toda nuestra vida y que nos proporciona orden y claridad.
El proyecto nace de esa geometría cuadrada, ajustada a las dimensiones de la parcela y a las necesidades del programa y sus usuarios. Una secuencia de anillos concéntricos desde el patio hasta la fachada van definiendo en cada una de sus líneas lo esencial de la residencia.
Un lugar donde permanecer, vivir y disfrutar de las condiciones que el paisaje que lo rodea ofrece.
The project was born as an intervention in the former Civil Guard Building in Alpuente to convert it into a residence for the elderly. It is a building that has remained in the landscape until becoming part of it. His volumetric, geometric and constructive forcefulness is already part of the place and, therefore, his footprint must remain in a project that does not pretend to be anything other than an evolution of a building that was always there. A residence for the elderly is a building that aspires to become the new home of people who reach a very special phase of their life, enjoyment of life, fun in company and tranquility. For this, two starting points are taken: the courtyard as an articulating element and the square as a primitive form.
The patio is a space strategy of always and forever, known by all; those who live it, those who visit it and ultimately all those who enjoy it. A place where you feel protected and recognized. The patio allows to simplify connections, connect functions and link spaces that may feel distant but always visually connected to allow maximum control.
If the patio is a spatial strategy of popular tradition, the square is perhaps together with the circle the first geometric figure of our memory. It is for this reason a figure that has accompanied us throughout our lives and that gives us order and clarity. The project is born from this square geometry, adjusted to the dimensions of the plot and the needs of the program and its users. A sequence of concentric rings from the patio to the façade define the essence of the residence in each of its lines.
